Synopsis: In Iran, there are certain norms that women are expected to follow, such as getting married or doing feminine activities. Those who are well off and live in urban areas have more opportunities than women who do not. In this film, the young woman Eti is an unorthodox woman in that she does not want to get married. She recounts stories of women being abused by their husbands and does not want to put herself in that position. She also has many dreams and likes to do unconventional things such as ride motorcycles and go surfing. She ultimately dreams of going abroad and traveling the world. Her financial status is what prevents her from following her dreams. She wishes she were rich and could travel. The societal norms previously mentioned do not completely dominate Iran anymore, for the country has gone through many societal changes. In major cities, education is encouraged for women, as opposed to small villages where there are fewer opportunities and tradition rules. Women are still encouraged to get married, but in urban settings if they postpone marriage in order to get an education, such behavior is not condemned. This film also touches upon Iran’s drug problem. Iran has an enormous underground drug scene. Several characters in this film demonstrate the way drugs rule their lives and how they manage to obtain them.
